Monif C. is a bold, feminine, sophisticated plus-size brand that promotes body diversity and empowers women to embrace their curves. Monif Clarke contacted me looking for someone to elevate the online brand, create a responsive site and improve the overall usability of the shopping experience. We started from the ground up, with a logo redesign. The brand’s beautiful photography and great brand story made it easy to create a fresh, new shopping experience.

A New Mobile Experience

With an increasing number of potential customers coming from mobile devices, we needed to make sure that Monif C.’s visitors were given a great shopping experience no matter what device they were shopping from.

A responsive makeover allowed for a seamless experience without compromising any features. The beautiful photography, UI and interaction was given just as much consideration as the desktop experience.

The Products

Great product photography is a key part of the success of an new eCommerce site design. We didn’t want to settle for another plain white background product grid. We wanted to create a unique visual language that the Monif C. could own. A simple light gray background placed behind the model added depth to the page, making the products stand out. As you hover on a product, the back view is revealed and the card is lifted off by a soft shadow. This allows the visitor to explore products effortlessly and adds visual beauty to the experience.

The Details

We continued the concept of the gray wall onto the detail page. One product image transitions seamlessly to another while swiping through different views. The product information is contained in one area, focusing someone’s eyes to the call to action and making it simple to add it to their shopping bag.

Many ways to shop

In addition to the core shopping experience, we wanted to create more immersive ways to explore the product line and bring the community onto the site through the creation of lookbooks, a magazine-style blog and social integration including the #monifc section where we connected with the fans on Instagram by featuring the most glamorous looks on the website.
